Beverly Jeanne Miller "Jean" Melrose Park, IL/East Chicago, IN Beverly Jeanne "Jean" Miller, age 83, of Melrose Park, IL, formerly of East Chicago, IN, passed away in Melrose Park on June 22, 2004 from complications of Peripheral Vascular Disease. Jean was born April 6, 1921 in Danville, IL. She graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary. She married William R. (Bill) Miller in Gary on August 1, 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Don and Beulah Melton and her brother Clyde. During her life, Jean was an active member of the community in addition to assisting her husband in his business at AP Davis Sports. In 1951 she was a founding membr of the Timberlost (Women's) Chapter of Izaak Walton, Miller, IN. IN, East Chicago; she was a Troop Leader for Girl Scout Troop #47; a parent-advisor for Job's Daughters, Bethel #74, Past President of Psi Iota Xi, Beta Nu Chapter, a Garden Club member and a member of the Board of Health. Jean was also an active participant in the Order of Eastern Stars, Indiana Harbor Chapter #378 and The Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Awalim Court #9. Jean is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Dwight) Washburn of Oak Park, IL; two sisters, Fern (Jim) Doneff of Chesterton and Faye Melton of Rochester, IN; sister-in-law Irene Gambles of Hobart; two grandchildren Tracy (Clay) Dual of Hero Beach, FL and Chuck (Marabous) Graves of Battle Creek, MI; two great-grandchildren. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews and their children. Jean was lovingly attended by her caregiver, Lina. Memorial Services, Saturday, July 10, 2004, 11:00 A.Me. at the Burns Funeral Home, (corner 101st and Broadway), Crown Point Chapel with Rev. Chris Manley officiating. Interment, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
