Beverly H. Cox Beverly H. Cox, 79, who retired as a professor emeritus at Florida State University School of Nursing, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Big Bend Hospice House. The service will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church, with burial at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach. Family will receive friends immediately after the service at Parish Hall.Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. A native of Lakeland and a former resident of Miami, she moved to Tallahassee in 1967.She retired from FSU after teaching for 30 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Florida State College for Women and received a master's degree from Columbia University. She was a member of the FSU Alumni Association, Riverside Hospital Alumni Association, Florida Nurses Association District No. 23, American Nurses Association, the Registered Nurse Practitioner Council and the American Association of University Women.She also was a member of the Tallahassee Dog Obedience Club, Ochlockonee River Kennel Club of Florida and the Boston Terrier Club of Miami. She was a longtime member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Holy Comforter Collator's Society. She is survived by two nieces, Mary Cox Nielsen (and husband Larry R.) of Tallahassee and Beverly A. Cox of Umatilla; a nephew, Richard E. Cox (and wife Marybeth) of Hendersonville, N.C.; a great-nephew, Richard Ryland Cox of Hendersonville; and a great-niece, Ashley C. Nielsen of Tallahassee.The Cox and Nielsen families would like to express their gratitude to Beverly's friends and colleagues, as well as the staff at Big Bend Hospice, who all helped her through her long illness.
