<!-- Beulah Joyce JOHNSON --> JOHNSON, Beulah Joyce A long-time resident of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Huntsville, AL after a lengthy illness. She was 93 years old. Beulah grew up in Carroll County, TN, the daughter of Thomas F. and Beulah Porter Joyce. She was the middle child of six in a farming family, where a strong sense of love, family unity, and "doing the right thing" was instilled in the children. She remained close to her siblings all her adult life. Beulah graduated from Hall's School (high school) in Yuma, TN in 1935. She and her siblings were boarding students in Yuma, as Hall's was the nearest school to their home. Beulah moved from Nashville soon after graduating from high school. She began her work career as a comptroller at the telephone company. She was employed for many years at Vanderbilt University Student Health Center until her retirement. Since 1936, Beulah Johnson was a member at Hillsboro Church of Christ, where she was very active until ill health prevented her participation. Beulah Johnson is survived by her youngest brother, John Joyce and his wife Mildred of White House, TN. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Louise Joyce of Winchester, TN. Her parents, sisters, Cynthia Rodgers and Ruth Shaw, and brothers, Frank Joyce and Milton Joyce, preceded her in death. Beulah Johnson is also survived by her two daughters, Joyce Davis and her husband John of Huntsville, AL, and Kathleen Moss and her husband David of Brentwood, TN; five grandchildren, Krissie Moss Stegall of Nolensville, TN, Jennifer Davis McKnight of Harvest, AL, Jonathan W. Davis of Cody, WY, Anna Moss Hicks of Brentwood, TN and Ryan Moss of Nashville, TN. Beulah Johnson was known as "Booloo" to her grandchildren and to her six great-grandchildren, Logan Stegall, Andrew McKnight, Ethan Stegall, Houston Hicks, Katelyn Stegall and Weston Hicks. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, at the Hillsboro church of Christ, 5800 Hillsboro Road, Nashville, with Geoff Sikes and Randall Pardue officiating. Visitation will be today, the 14th day of May, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. and 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Interment will be at the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
