One day before the 17th anniversary of the death of her beloved husband, "Gene", God answered her prayer to bring her home to reunite her with her husband. Bettye was devoted first to God and then as a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend. Bettye was born on April 16, 1945 in Cairo, Georgia. She attended and graduated from Crawfordville High School. She was a member of Words of Life Church of God, however she regularly attended church with her son, Page and his family at Lake Ellen Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Preston "Gene" Pitman and her parents, Hayward and Hazel Harvey.She is survived by her children, Brian Pitman and his wife Wendy of Keller, TX; Ellen Pitman Hicks and her husband Mark of Tallahassee; Page Pitman and his wife Dana of Crawfordville. Grandchildren: Gage Pitman, Victoria Hicks, Marissa Hicks, Payton Pitman, Seth Hicks, Kylee Pitman, Kiera Hicks, Avery Pitman, Presley Pitman and Kinley Pitman (due May 8th).Siblings: Henry Harvey, Allen Harvey, Lettie Harvey and Pam Powell, all of Crawfordville. She is also survived by 2 nieces and 3 nephews. Memorial services will be held at Lake Ellen Baptist Church at 4495 Crawfordville Hwy in Crawfordville at 4 pm on Thursday, the 31st day of March 2011.
