FRANKLIN - Betty Whitlock passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2014, to once again be in the arms of her loving husband, George.Born on Dec. 7, 1920, in East Derham (Durham) County of Norfolk, England, she was the daughter of the late Theophilus Barker and Eleanor (Skerritt) Barker.?Attending local schools, she worked a variety of jobs as a youth, including working with the USO and the Red Cross during World War II, where she helped build landing strips for the American and British war effort. ?During the war, she met the love of her life, George E. Whitlock. George and Betty were married June 16, 1945, in the district of East Dureham (Durham) in the County of Norfolk, England. After the war, George and Betty lived in various military locations, including occupied Germany, before eventually settling in the United States. Betty became a naturalized citizen of the United States in Concord on June 22, 1962.?Raising five children and caring for George while he continued to serve our country was a full-time job for Betty. Although this kept her very busy, she developed a passion for reading and literally read thousands upon thousands of books.?Betty also enjoyed gardening, bird watching and was an amazing cook.?Betty is predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, George, and her daughter, Betty.
