Betty Lou Ray Powell Smith, 77, formerly of 340 Garrett Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002. Survivors: A daughter, Jane Lanford Waddell, of Gray Court; a son, Michael Wayne Powell, of Ocean City, N.J.; a brother, Joe Ray, of Chesnee; sisters, Yvonne McDonald of Coeur-D-Alene, Idaho, and Agnes Thomas of Morganton, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased: A son, Raymond Powell; and parents, John Rex and Lula Jane Ray. Visitation: 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Funeral Home, with the service at 2 p.m. Burial: Sunset Memorial Park.
