AdministratorLAKELAND -- Mrs. Betty Griffin Smith of Lakeland died of cancer Saturday (Dec. 21, 2002). She was 66.Born Jan. 24, 1936, in Bartow, she moved to Lakeland 18 years ago. She was was an administrator for the Florida Department of Transportation for 32 years. She was a member of the Bartow Cricket Club and the Advisory Committee of the Indian Shores Florida Leisure Services. She was a member of Bartow First Baptist Church.Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters, Cindy Perrin, Bristal, Tenn., Sonya Smith Yakub, Pelham, N.Y.; brothers, John R. "Bobby" Griffin, Lakeland, Eugene "Sonny" Griffin, Jr., Bartow; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be this afternoon from 1 to 2 at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home with a graveside funeral service at 2 p.m. at Wildwood Cemetery.
