Stonington - Betty R. Chapman, 62, of Pawcatuck, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at home surrounded by her family.Born in New London, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Lautenschlager) Chapman and had lived in Pawcatuck since 1984.Betty grew up in Mystic and attended local schools graduating from Fitch High School in the class of 1967. Betty worked at Packer Tar Soap in Mystc as a bookkeeper, Thames Valley Steel as a purchasing agent, and as a bookkeeper for Stonington Fillet and Gambardella Wholesale Fish, Inc.In her retirement, Betty enjoyed crocheting, was an avid reader, and could always be found tending to her gardens and working in her yard. Her greatest love, aside from her family, was for her dogs, Brandy and Joshua and her loving cat, Tigger. Betty loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed.She leaves her sister, Trudy Wagner and her husband, Bill, of Mystic; two nieces, Kimberly and Amy Wagner, both of Pawcatuck; uncle, Albert "Rie" Banks and his wife, Patty, of Noank; and numerous cousins.She was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd and Richard "Dicky" Chapman.Her family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic.
