Betty Oglesby COWPENS, SC-- Betty Sawyer Oglesby, 85, formerly of 2019 Battleground Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 26, 2011 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg. Born in Spartanburg County, she was the widow of the late Rev. James Franklin Oglesby, Sr. and daughter of the late Clarence P. and Daisy McElrath Sawyer. Mrs. Oglesby was a retired seamstress, a homemaker and was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Chesnee. She, along with her late husband, served faithfully through Christian ministry as pastor and pastor's wife of several Baptist churches sharing the good news that Jesus saves. Surviving is a son, James Oglesby, Jr. and wife, Missy of Belton; three daughters, Becky Belue Shields and husband, Earl of Campobello, Vicki Cash Mullinax and husband, Forest of Cowpens and Faye Riddle of Simpsonville; a brother, Clarence (Pete) Sawyer, Jr. and wife, Lucy of Spartanburg; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the employees and staff of White Oak Estates and to Hospice Care of South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Cowpens. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Shane Belue and Rev. James Clint Oglesby officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
