Betty Mae Bateman Smith CHATTAHOOCHEE - Mrs. Betty Mae Bateman Smith, age 81, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009, at her home in Chattahoochee, Fla., after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Chattahoochee and had lived in the area all her life. She was also a member of Faceville Baptist Church. No visitation is being planned with the family.Funeral services will be graveside Wednesday, September 30, at 3 p.m. EDT at Sylvania Cemetery in Decatur County Georgia. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Betty Worrell (and husband Barney) of Chattahoochee; two grandchildren, Dr. Jamey Worrell (and wife Lynn) of Trussville, Alabama, and Tracy Duke (and husband Kyle) of Faceville, Ga.; And one great-grandson, Mason Duke.She was preceded in death, by her husband, Charles Wendell Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Lanier-Andler Funeral Home (850-663-4343) is in charge of arrangements.
