Betty Lou Strickland Anderson was born Oct. 14, 1932 in St. Andrews, Florida. She died in Panama City, FL on Feb. 17, 2012. Her parents were William N. and Lura Whittington Strickland. Betty graduated from St. Andrew Grammar School and with the Bay County High School Class of 1950. She enjoyed the lunches and annual reunions of both schools and remained lifelong friends with many of her classmates. After graduating from the Florida State Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as a Registered Nurse in Brooksville, Gainesville and Panama City until her retirement in 1987. Betty enjoyed painting, many crafts and was an excellent cook. She worshipped with her family at Jenks Avenue Church of Christ. She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Carl David Anderson; her sister Jean; and three brothers, George, James and Earl. She is survived by Willard Anderson, her husband of 55 years; her son Kenneth Anderson of Panama City, FL; four sisters, Willie Mae Ellis of Marianna, FL, Faye Heath (Dick) of Portsmouth, NH, Martha Locke (Billy) and Laura Hoskins (David Pippin) both of Panama City, FL; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Anderson of Marianna, FL. She is also survived by a special niece, Pat Hall (Donnie); a special friend, Gwen Sellars; and many nephews and nieces. The funeral service will be 10 AM, Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at Southerland Funeral Home with Mr. Jack Reece, Minister, officiating. Interment Services will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, North of Altha, Fla. at 1 PM. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM.
