SANDERSVILLE, Ga. - Mrs. Betty Lord Smith, age 67, of Sandersville, formerly of Marietta, died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 2:00 pm at the May and Smith Funeral Directors Chapel with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. J. Emory Lindsey will officiate. Mrs. Smith was a native of Washington County the daughter of the late George Raymond Lord Sr. and the late Orian Brown Lord. She was a graduate of Tennille high school before moving to Marietta for the next 45 years. Mrs. Smith was retired as the office manager for American General Insurance Company in Marietta and was of the Baptist Faith. Her husband J. Dewey Smith predeceases Mrs. Smith. Survivors are her brothers, G.R. Lord Jr. (Rosalyn) and Rep. Jimmy Lord both of Sandersville; nieces and nephews, Sherry Dawson (Harold), Rhonda Knowle, Kathy Carlson (Larry) and George Lord (Joy), and several great nieces and nephews and a great great nephew. The family will be at the Dawson residence 824 Evergreen Dr. Sandersville and will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8pm at May and Smith Funeral Directors 1119 Riddleville Rd. Sandersville.
