<!-- FH = Shackelford-Johnson Chapel 731-989-2624 -->Betty Lancaster JohnsonBetty Lancaster Johnson was born in Enville, TN, the daughter of the late Royce and Elna Jamerson Lancaster. She attended school in Enville until eighth grade and graduated from Chester County High School in 1945 and later graduated from Lambuth College in 1950. She was married to Leon Johnson on June 11, 1950. Mrs. Betty began her teaching career in 1956 at Chester County High School and taught there until 1978. She later was a fashion buyer for the former Kisbers in Jackson, where she made bi-monthly trips to New York City. Mrs. Betty along with Mr. Johnson also operated Leon Johnson and Son Funeral Home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught children's Sunday School Class, serving on many committees, a member of the Hand Bell Choir, and was a strong supporter of the Gleaners House, an Outreach Ministry of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association and also a former first lady of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association.She is survived by her husband, Leon Johnson of Henderson; a daughter, Jan Mabry (Phil) of Knoxville, TN; a son, Jack Johnson of Henderson, TN; a granddaughter, Mary Morgan Robinson (Jimbo) of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Saundra Gamble (Ed) of Jacksonville, FL and Sherry Goad (Ernie) of Memphis, TN and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind several very special care givers, Lillie Terry, Lynn Carroll and the staff of Tennessee Quality Homecare.She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lancaster.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Gleaner's House, P.O. Box 579, Henderson, TN 38340.Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Henderson with burial to follow in Henderson City Cemetery.The family will receive friends 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Johnson Chapel.Shackelford Funeral Directors - Johnson Chapel, Henderson, TN, 731-989-2624.
