Betty L. Davis - BLOOMINGDALE - Betty L. Davis, of Bloomingdale, Ga, heard the Angels sing and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday Sept 19, 2010. She died unexpectedly at home. She was born in Dunbarton, SC, on Dec 30, 1936, but lived most of her life in Chatham County. She was a member of South Newington Baptist Church of Bloomingdale and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Augustine Briggs of Augusta, Ga., brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Briggs of Augusta, sister Margaret Davis of Barnwell, SC, and daughter, Teresa Davis of Bloomingdale, Ga. Survivors include her devoted husband of 52 years, James C. Davis of Bloomingdale, and son J.C. Davis Jr., of Bloomingdale, Ga. and son and daughter in law Kenny (Robin) Waters of Pennsylvania. Daughter Patricia Dushame of Bloomingdale, Ga. Daughter and son in law Robin (Lyle) Kennedy of Bloomingdale, Ga Daughter and son in law, Belinda (Robbie) Myers of Stilson, Ga., Daughter and son in law Angie (Chris) Taylor of Rincon, Ga., Daughter Tina Shamlian (Davis) of Bloomingdale, Ga. Brother Henry Briggs of Hephzibah, Ga., Sister and brother in law Mary (Jim) Ray of Tennessee. Sister and brother in law Joyce (Teddy) Williams of Florida and sister and brother in law Helen (Don) Hughes of New York. 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. During her life she opened her heart and home to 67 foster children that she called her own. Visitation: Tuesday, Sept 21, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 2794 W. US Highway 80, Garden City, Ga. Funeral Services: Wednesday, Sept 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at South Newington Baptist Church on John Carter Road, Bloomingdale, Ga., with Rev. Steve McCoy, and Dr. Earl Best, officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery on Little Neck Road, Savannah, Ga. Mrs. Davis will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Wednesday to lie in state. Active pallbearers will be, Bob Rancart, Jason Crider, Kenny Sikes, Andy Sikes, Alex Sikes, and Ray Bishop.
