Betty-Jo Wheeler, née en 1927, conjointe de Patricia Ann, mère de James B. Wheeler, est décédée à l'âge de 34 ans.
WHEELER, Betty Jo "BJ" Betty Jo Wheeler went home to her Lord Jesus on May 30, 2010. Born in Bradenton, Feb. 4, 1927, to William W. & Hatti G. Wilson, she grew up in Clearwater and graduated from Key West High School. She met her sailor, James B. Wheeler, dancing at a USO and two months later they married in 1946. Her life of adventure and travels continued and during his 34 years in the Navy, living in many different and exotic places while raising their two sons, James B. Wheeler Jr. and William W. Wheeler. She lost her oldest tragically in 1975. Happily she returned to her native Florida in 1978 where she would enjoy many years with the Wilson family. Her husband of 48 years passed away unexpectedly and too early in 1994. BJ was active in her son's activities, her husband's careers and truly gave of herself, primarily to her family, and just because you weren't related didn't mean you weren't family! She found time to enjoy bridge, golf when she was younger, bowling (she rolled many 600+ series and one 300 game) and dominoes, but truly centered her life on her church. She was baptized in her teens at Calvary Baptist Church and was a member the last several years of Lakeview Baptist Church which she truly loved. All who know Betty Jo knew a woman who was generous, thoughtful, polite and kind. She loved to cook and left behind 3500 cookbooks, most of which she had read. She always said she should have married a rich man because she loved to bless others. And everyone who knew BJ knew she was immovable when she had made a decision. Betty Jo leaves behind William W. Wheeler, M.D., of Omak, WA and his wife Patricia Ann; grandchildren Elizabeth (Justin) Bailey, Katie Wheeler and Charley Wheeler; great-grandkids Soren & Noah Bailey; a beloved sister Dorothy (Bill) Grooms and her niece Dr. Linda D. Grooms whom she loved as her daughter. A Celebration of her Life will be at Lakeview Baptist Church on June 1, 2010 at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater FL. 33760, who provided grace & kindness during her last days.
