Smith, 91, who entered into rest January 1, 2015, will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. The Reverend Jacob Joseph CMI, Celebrant. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Smith was a native of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, having made Aiken County her home for over 40 years. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Mrs. Smith was an avid golfer who enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. She was a member of the North Augusta Women's Golf Association and West Lake Country Club. Mrs. Smith looked forward to monthly dinner/dances at the country club with her friends. At the age of 80, she recorded a hole-in-one using her "Big Bertha." She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Lydia S. Hecht; a sister, Helen H. Meyers; and a brother, Edward A. Hecht. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Clarence C. Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Tina Smith, Pittsburgh, PA and Scott and Sandra Smith, Oxford, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Bill Lawson and Sandra and Richard Ray, all of North Augusta, SC; 11 grandchildren, Carson Brigham, Ilya Smith, Jessica Boozer, Jamie Smith, Jason Smith, Carl Gay, Andy Gay, Tonya Wilson, Richard L. Ray, Jr., Brad Lawson, Coley Lawson and Bess Lawson; 15 great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Carl Gay, Andy Gay, Brad Lawson, Coley Lawson and Ilya Smith.A Vigil Service for the Deceased will be held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock followed by visitation until 6.
