She was born September 29, 1938 in Vernal to Lewis LeRoy and Edna Christina Sundquist Massey.Betty Jean resided in Vernal most of her life. She attended local schools and graduated from Uintah High School. Betty Jean married Tom Montgomery on June 7, 1956. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. She held various positions in the Relief Society, Young Women, Primary and Sunday School. She served as an ordinance worker in the Vernal Temple for 8 years. Betty Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed being a homemaker and being around family and friends.She is survived by her husband; Tom, children; Jolene (Dean) Baker, Brad (Michele) Montgomery, and Wade (Leslie) Montgomery, siblings; Doris Izagiurra, Marie Reagan, Bud (Janice) Massey, Patsy (Max) Rasmussen, Morgan Massey, Janet (Larry) Adams, 12 grandchildren, 3great grandchildren, and hopefully many more to come.She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Charles Massey, a sister; Utahn Massey, and her grandson; Morgan Baker.Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Naples Ward LDS Chapel. Viewings will be Friday evening from 6-8 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
