BETTY JANECOX, 91Florida Dept. of Citrus LAKELAND - Betty Jane Cox, 91, of Lakeland, died July 19, 2011 due to heart failure. Betty was born July 14, 1920 in Glens Falls, NY to John and Elsie (Walkup) Gilday and moved to Lakeland in 1971 coming from VanWert, OH. She was an active member and volunteer with the United Methodist Temple in Lakeland and was also an avid golfer, tennis player and swimmer. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was active in the Mas Verde Mobile Home Park Association. Professionally, Betty was employed as an executive secretary with the Florida Dept. of Citrus. Betty was united in marriage June 19, 1948 to her husband, Robert L. Cox who preceded her in death on December 24, 1985. She is survived by her son, John Cox of Crystal River; her daughters, Robbie Mosier of Haviland, OH and Pat DeWitt of Lakeland; her grandchildren, Josh Mos-ier, Jarrod (Jackie) Mosier, Meghan & Logan DeWitt and Justin Cox & Courtney Cox and her two great grandchildren, Macy and Caleb Mosier. Memorial Services celebrating her life will be held 11am Friday at the United Methodist Temple, Lakeland. Interment will take place at a later date in Glens Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Temple. Lakeland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
