Memorial service for Betty Jane Boone, 89, Ormond Beach, who died Friday, July 15, 2005, in Daytona Beach, will be 3 p.m. today (Tuesday, July 19) in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, with the Rev. Bob Moorehead officiating. Betty was born Dec. 21, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., to William E. and Betty Lewis (Wright) Pratt. She lived in the Daytona Beach area for most of her life. Betty was a real estate broker in the Daytona Beach area since 1943. She received the Daytona Beach Association Realtor of the Year Award in 1957, 1960, 1961, 1965 and the FAR Realtor of the Year in 1985. She was also awarded the esteemed Realtor Emeritus Award in 1993 for 50 years of continuous membership and service. She served as governor of the National Association of Realtors Farm and Land Institute and held the designation AFLM. She was a member of Omega Tau Rho since 1963. She served as president of the Women's Council of the National Association of Realtors and while president spoke at 39 state conventions. She served as president of the Daytona Beach Board of Realtors in 1960 and 1961. Betty served as city commissioner for Daytona Beach in 1966 and 1967, board of governors, Daytona Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, president of two Pilot Clubs and served as the first lieutenant governor of Pilot Clubs International in 1962. She also served as a board member of United Way, American Cancer Society, Mental Health Association, March of Dimes, American Red Cross, American Heart Association and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Betty was appointed by Gov. Ferris Bryant to the Florida Industrial Commission in 1962. She is survived by her son, George C., Jr. and his wife, Judi, Ormond Beach; daughter, Betty Lee Boone, Zillah, Wash.; four grandchildren, Sue Meserve, Deanna Church, David Boone and Stacey Cox; and eight great-grandchildren.
