September 24, 2008 Betty J. Smith, 83, a Tully, resident for most of her life, passed away Wednesday, September 24 at Community General Hospital. Betty retired as the Justice Court Clerk for the Town of Tully. Following her retirement, she was an active volunteer with the Tully Area Historical Society. She was a member of the Tully United Community Church. Betty was the widow of Gaylord Smith and sister of the late Helen Peck. Surviving are her children, Charles (Carol) Smith of Burlington, NC, James (Judith) Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN, Deborah Preuss of Tully, Carol (Walter) Rozella of Maine, NY, Mark (Denise) Smith of Marcellus; her sister, June Cregan of Tully; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services: Tuesday, 2 p.m. in the Tully United Community Church, Meetinghouse Rd., Tully. Interment, South Onondaga Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to: Tully Area Historical Society. Arrangement by Hartwell Funeral Home.
