Betty Jean (Betsy Jane) Martin Smith, Collinwood, Tenn., a native of Waynesboro, Tenn., departed this life Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at ECM Hospital, Florence, Ala., at the age of 79 years, 3 months, 24 days.She was a beautician, a member of Collinwood Freewill Baptist Church and was secretary of Collinwood Order of Eastern Star.Survivors include sons, Dr. William Steven Smith and wife, Morene, Killen, Ala., Robert Stanley Smith and wife, Lori, Hohenwald, Tenn., Richard Dennis Smith and wife, Janice, Collinwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jillian, Tonya, Christopher, Dustin, Dakota and Ashton Smith; great-grandchildren, Micah and Ellagrace Estave; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Taylor Martin and Mamie Thompson Martin Melson; her husband, W. C. Smith; and grandson, Chad Griner.Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Shackelford Funeral Home chapel, Collinwood, Tenn., with Jimmy Turnbow and Chad Balentine officiating. Eastern Star rites will be given. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tenn., with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home Wednesday.
