Snellville - Betty Jane Fleming Bryant, age 75, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2008. Mrs. Bryant was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Lucy Fleming. She was the loving wife to Mr. Paul Bryant. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sharrine Casstevens and a brother, Laclade Fleming.Mrs. Bryant was raised on a farm between Comer and Danielsville. She attended Colbert School from elementary through High School, graduating with honors and was class salutatorian. She met Paul, her husband to be, at Fort Benning while visiting the post with friends. They were married on October 11, 1951 after his return from the Korean War.From the Army to the oil fields of West Texas, they began a journey that would, under God's direction, take them as pastors into five states. They spent 45 years in pastoral ministry and five years as evangelists.Mrs. Bryant excelled as a teacher and counselor, organizing and directing several ministries that left a profound and lasting influence on hundreds of youth and young married couples. She was known for her quick mind and sense of humor. She made friends wherever she went and never forgot a name.Surviving relatives including her husband: grandson, Brandal Casstevens, Lawrenceville; sisters, Frances Knight, Comer and Marjorie Parham, Snellville; brothers, Frank Fleming and Hewatt Fleming, both of Comer.Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. & Mrs. Derald Musgrove will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in Meadow Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Scott Fleming, Gordy Knight, Tyson Culberson, Steve Fleming, Roger Parham and David Culberson.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 - 3 p.m.Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, has charge of arrangements.
