Betty Genell Williams, 76, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2011.She was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Marietta, Ga. Betty was a homemaker and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Panama City.She is survived by her husband, N.D. Williams; and her children, Vickie Cooley and her husband, Jess, Judy Poppell and her husband, Charles, Deborah Register and her husband, Bill, and Thomas Williams and his wife, Michele. She had seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews and their spouses. She worked for nine years at Bay Medical Center as an OB/GYN nurse and then went on to work for Dr. Paul Hunt as a pediatric nurse for 17 years. She retired in 1996. She was an Eastern Star and belonged to the St. Andrews Bay Quilters Guild and the Lady Bugs Quilting Bee for several years. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Southerland Family Funeral Home.The family would like to take this time to thank each person at Community Rehabilitation Facility and Hospice for taking such great care and making her as comfortable as possible during her stay with them.
