MOORE, Betty ClarkBorn April 4, 1933 in Memphis, TN to Rev. Bob and Elizabeth Clark, passed away June 24, 2011 in Nashville, TN. Betty/Mom/"Mommo" will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a devoted wife to the late James W. Moore, a nurturing mother to her sons, Scott Moore of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Clark (Nikki) Moore of Nashville, TN, and an extraordinary grandmother to her grandchildren, Lauren and Meghan Moore of Nashville, TN, Hunter Moore of Winder, GA, and Ryann and Kyle Armstrong of Nashville, TN. Betty graduated from Lambuth College in 1955 with a Bachelors in Music (minor in English). Her primary instrument being the piano, Betty taught piano to many generations of children. She received a Masters of Science from Peabody, and spent fifteen years of her twenty-year career at Oak Hill School as headmistress, before moving to Atlanta's Trinity School, from which she retired in 2001. After retirement, Betty moved back to Nashville, where she resumed her piano teaching and activities at Belmont United Methodist Church, which she originally joined in 1956. We remember Betty for her incredible faith and devotion to her Savior. Betty was currently serving as chair of the Music Ministries at Belmont UMC, previously having served as chair of the Administrative Board, Stewardship and Adult Education. A member of the Bill Harbison Sunday School class for over fifty years, Betty also participated in the Sanctuary Choir, Carillon & Celebration Ringers, Ministry Council, United Methodist Women, and Centennial Committee, just to name a few. Betty additionally served as Pianist of Chapel Choir & 8:15 Service. She was also an active member of Chapter C PEO and Alpha Delta Kappa teacher sorority. The family will gather for visitation on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Belmont United Methodist Church Community Center, 2007 Acklen Ave., Nashville, TN 37212 from 6 -8 p.m. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at Belmont United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belmont United Methodist Church or Oak Hill School.
