Betty Claire Tyson WilliamsDecaturFuneral service for Betty Claire Tyson Williams, 81, of Decatur will be Friday, June 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Berry officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery.Mrs. Williams, who died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital, was born February 13, 1929, in Ohatchee to Ira Davis Tyson and Fannie Ida Acker Tyson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Williams; and one daughter, Jan Williams. Mrs. Williams moved to Decatur in 1958 and was a founding member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was active in Austin High School Band Boosters Club. Mrs. Williams and her husband, Troy, were in the insurance business for 35 years.She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Dougherty and husband, David, of Decatur; two granddaughters, Claire Robertson and husband, Chris, of Powell, Tenn., and Katie Walden and husband, Andy, of Priceville; great-grandson, Will Robertson; and her nurse, Joyce Black.Pallbearers will be Jackie Clifton, Joel Snyder, Wayne Brannon, Bruce Cheatham, David Dougherty and Bruce LaVerde.Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Cheatham and Bobby Black.In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or to the Jan Williams Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church of Austinville.
