AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Betty Preacher Brown was the fourth child born to Mr. and Mrs. John Preacher Senior of Bamberg, South Carolina and departed life on Sunday, November 9, 2014, in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Boulevard, Augusta, GA with Reverend Dr. Charles E. Goodman, Jr., pastor-officiating. Mausoleum entombment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Betty grew up in the city of Bamberg, South Carolina where she attended public schools and graduated from Richard Carrole Memorial High School. After graduation, she matriculated to Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina, where she received her BS Degree in Elementary Education. Betty pursued further study at Augusta College now GRU and accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Honey Ford Baptist Church, Denmark, South Carolina. She was married to Mr. Ralph Brown of Troy, South Carolina and became the proud parents of Wendy K. and Johnathan Patrick. Betty became an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1968 and served as President of the September Birthmonth Club, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, and a member of the Creative Beautification Ministry. She was gainfully employed in the public school system of Ocilla County, Covington, Georgia and retired from the Richmond County Public School System, Augusta, Georgia after thirty-four years of loyal and devoted teaching. Betty leaves to mourn her passing her devoted and faithful children, Wendy K. Brown of Augusta, GA and Johnathan Patrick (Kim) Brown of LaGrange, GA, four grandchildren, Derez Heatley Brown, Kenya Janey Brown, Brain Shelton Green, and Sadie Rose Brown; one sister, Ms. Ruth Preacher of Corona, New York; brother, Reverend John E.
