Betty B. Cox, 79, died April 20, 2012, at Hock Family Pavilion Hospice, Durham, N.C. She was born in Berea, N.C., and lived in Stem, also having lived in Fort Pierce for 26 years. She worked as the switchboard operator for Sears and W.R. Grace in Fort Pierce and retired as a receptionist/operator for the state of North Carolina at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, N.C. Survivors include her daughters, Betty C. Oakley of Stem and Linda C. Noelke of Fort Pierce; son, David K. Cox of Port St. Lucie; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Cox. Memorial contributions may be made to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N. Roxboro Road, Durham, NC 27704. Services: A service was April 24 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Berea, with the Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
