Funeral services for Mrs. Atkinson will be 3 p.m. Sunday at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 3 to 5 p.m. at the mortuary. Betty Davis Atkinson, 78, beloved wife and mother, of 19 Hedgepath Street, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Rev. James A. Davis and Sue Etta Owens Davis. She was retired from the Quilt Gallery and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.Surviving are her husband, Bobby Joe Atkinson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Kelly Wagner of Anderson and Pamela and Paul McDaniel of Piedmont; four sisters, Florence and her husband, Lloyd "Mutt" Sargent, of Liberty, Gladys Pressley of Easley, Lois and her husband, Rev. Norman Gillespie, of Moncks Corner, and Alta Mae and her husband, Rev. Charlie Bowen, of Elko; a brother, Rev. Larry J. Davis and his wife, Mary Ellen "Bo," of Liberty; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily McDaniel.Memorials are requested to East Side Baptist Church, 920 Anderson Drive, Liberty SC 29657 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.The family will be at the home.
