WEST BLOCTON Betty Ann Pierson Cox, age 75, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A native of Bibb County and a graduate of West Blocton High School, she formerly lived in Fayette, Alabama where she taught Sunday School and Bible School as a member of The First Baptist Church of Fayette. After returning to Bibb County, she served as the first Director of the Head Start Program in West Blocton, Alabama.Betty Ann was an extraordinary cook, a whiz at New York Times crossword puzzles, a true Auburn Tiger and an avid Braves fan. Most of all, Betty Ann will be missed by both family and friends because of her unrelenting generosity, wisdom and kindred spirit. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and "the best sister ever!" leaving an eternal irreplaceable void. However, her strength, independence and remarkable character will forever be in the hearts of loved ones she left behind.Those left to mourn her loss are her daughter, Jennie Elizabeth Johnston (Larry) of Moundville, Alabama; grandchildren, Amy Pierson of Atlanta, Georgia and Jake Johnston (Ginger) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; great-grandsons, Hunter and Hayden Johnston of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; brothers, James Daniel Moon, Jr. (Barbara) of Stockton, California and Charles Roland Moon (Barbara) of Rainbow City, Alabama; a sister, Mary Clyde Moon Owens (Walter) of Centreville, Alabama, and a host of other family members and friends.Betty Ann was preceded in death by her parents, James Daniel Moon and Caledonia Elizabeth Moon, two brothers, Richard Howard Moon and John Thomas Moon, the father of their children, Luther Andrew Pierson, Sr., her cherished son, Luther Andrew Pierson, Jr., husband, Britt Cox, and a niece, Lillie Jane Moon.Visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home Friday, October 27, 2006 from 10 to 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Gardens.
