Betty Ann Newman Moore of 626 Otis Blvd., Spartanburg, passed on to eternal life after an extended illness of colon cancer on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at her home. A native of Spartanburg, she was the daughter of Bernice Rebecca Brady Newman of Inman and the late Lewis Allen Newman. She attended the College of Charleston and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Prior to her illness, Betty Ann was very involved in many community, cultural and civic activities. She especially enjoyed her Mobile Meals route and the many new friends she made. Survivors in addition to her mother are a daughter, Anne Brady Moore, a student at Radford University in Radford, Va.; a son, John Pendelton Moore, a student at Wofford College, Spartanburg; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen Newman Jr. and Beth of Inman; two nieces, Amanda and Rebecca Newman of Inman; a special friend, Al Brumfield of Spartanburg; and a special caregiver, Alice Mae Reynolds of Columbus, N.C. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2002, in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg conducted by the Rev. Dr. George L. McGill, the Rev. Dr. William Arthur and the Rev. Ansley B. Page. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery. Cousins will be pallbearers. Honorary escort will be Dr. Carol W. Shuler, Dr. Kathryn W. Knoy, Dr. Robert A. Cochran, Dr. James D. Bearden III, Dr. Gordon France, Dr. Eric C. Nelson, Dr. James E. Bradof and Dr. Peter F. Ryan. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Spartanburg County Foundation, 320 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
