CARTER, BETTIE LEE, 85, of Louisville, passed away January 17, 2013. Bettie was born September 6, 1927, to Alma Steilberg Nichols and Squire E. Nichols. She was the loving wife to Floyd C. Carter for almost 67 years and a wonderful mother to four children, Dianne Rogalinski (David), Bruce (Linda), Carol Buckingham (Dennis) and Doug (Martha); She was Grandma to Heather, Trisha, Michael, Scott, Marcy, Matt, Karen, Alan, Brad, Lindsay, Gabrielle, Mattie, Jonah, and Sophia; and Great-Grandmother to Haley, Jonathan, Jackson, Garrett, Jaime, Austin, Shelby, Katelynn, Xander, Kelsey, Luke, Katya, Katie, Skylar and Nicolelynn. She graduated from Jeffersontown High School and played trombone in the band. She was a beautiful singer and began singing in the WGRC Chorus and sang solos for many weddings and in many church choirs. As a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church since 1958, she was a member of the choir for over 50 years and a kindergarten Sunday school teacher for 25 years. Her love for children was also evident in her job as a tutor and assistant at Wilkerson Elementary for many years and was a lifetime member of the PTA. Her funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy. Interment will follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 1-8 p.m. The family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to Hosparus of Louisville or to her Church.
