BESSIE MARIE FREDERICKS LAKE STATION, IN Bessie Marie Fredericks, age 93, of Lake Station passed away Tuesday December 10, 2013 at the St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. Bessie was born August 18, 1920 in Gary, IN to the late Sam and Cora (Van De Water) Melton. Bessie was a sales clerk for Goldblatz and was a crane operator at U.S. Steel during WWII. Bessie loved working in her yard and embroidering. Bessie is survived by her son, Keith (Diane) Fredericks of Portage; three daughters: Sandra Harker of Lake Station, Melody (Doyle) Butler of Texas, and Karen Fields of Illinois; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; four brothers: Forest Melton of California, John (Glenda) Melton, Delmar (Jo) Melton, and Cecil (Barbara) Melton all of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lonzo Fredericks; her parents; three brothers: Sam, Chuck and Leonard; and three sisters: Beulah, Ida and Barbara. Funeral services will be Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake station, IN 46405 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Blake Cemetery Portage, IN. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the funeral home.
