-> Baxley - Bertise Lee Carter, 71, died Friday, November 4, 2005 in the Appling Healthcare System after an extended illness. A native and lifelong reside of Appling County, he was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the Lebanon Crisis having served in the United States Army and was the co-owner of Lee's Termite and Pest Control for the past 39 years. Survivors include his wife, Linda Youmans Carter of Baxley; three sons, Yancey Lee (Pat) Carter, Heath (Cheryl) Carter and Laney (Amy) Carter all of Baxley; two sisters, Deneice Carter of Baxley and Lawanda (Ronald) Osteen of Atlanta; one brother, Ronald (Diane) Carter of Baxley; six grandchildren, Drake Allen, Shannon, Blaklyn, Layne Marie, Autumn and Olivia. Funeral service will be held Sunday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. from Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Carter will lie in state at the Church one hour prior to the funeral service.
