Bertie Mae Pevey Edwards - EFFINGHAM - Effingham County native, Bertie Mae Pevey Edwards, 90, died Thursday, August, 28, 2008, at 6:28 a.m. at the Effingham County Hospital. She was born January 7, 1918 to John LaFayeete Pevey and Eula Seckinger Pevey in the Pevey home that stood where Riggs Funeral Home is now located. She is a member of New Providence Baptist Church in Guyton. Besides her parents, she was precede in death by her first husband, Woodrow Barner, second husband, Paul Shearouse and children, Doris Jean Barner Mobley, John William Barner and Donald Woodrow Barner. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Lou Zipperer (Frederick), her husband Jack Edwards and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, August 29, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008 in the Ben Wages Chapel of Riggs Funeral Home.
