LONGMEADOW- Bertha E. (Beaulieu) Ammirato, 93, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2005. Born in Ludlow, she was the daughter of the late Delmose and Angelina (Labiere) Beaulieu. Bertha was the devoted wife to the late George F. Ammirato, an Army Major and a decorated World War II hero. She was also predeceased by a beloved daughter, Carol Ann Ammirato, and by two dear sisters, and a brother. She leaves to forever cherish her memory, a devoted son, George R. Ammirato, Sr. of East Longmeadow; 3 dear grandchildren, Cheryl Fuller, Dina Slayton and George R. Ammirato Jr.; five dear great-grandchildren; 1 dear great great- grandchild; a dear nephew, Allan Ardito; and a very special dear friend and caregiver, Eleanor Jacobs. Bertha was a person of true character and strength, and managed to maintain a home, family, and a work at home job, while her husband was overseas during the war. There are no calling hours, and a private funeral service will be held, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Forastiere Smith Funeral Home of East Longmeadow is handling final arrangements.
