Bernice Eichman Jones, 100, formerly of the Plantsville section of Southington died peacefully Feb. 1, 2010, at the Jerome Home of New Britain after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Michael Jones Sr.She was born July 17, 1909, in Waterbury to the late Frederick and Anne (Rielly) Eichman. She was educated in Waterbury and was employed for many years at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Ward and Barbara Moran with whom she made her home prior to her illness; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Jones, of Wolcott; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Jones Jr. and a long time companion, Alfred LaPorte. The family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary care and concern given to their mother by the staff of Jerome Home. We shall be forever grateful.A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 27, 2010, at St. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury. Plantsville Funeral Home, Plantsville, was in charge of the arrangements.
