Untitled DR. BEN THOMAS GREGORY 1923 - 2009 Dr. Ben Thomas Gregory, 86, of Pensacola, passed away on September 24, 2009. Ben was born on September 18, 1923, in Okolona, Mississippi. He served in World War II as an Air Force Pilot. He maintained an interest in aviation, piloting his own airplane. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Mississippi in 1947 and received his medical degree at the University of Tennessee in 1954. He started his general practice in Okolona, MS in 1957. He moved to Pensacola in 1962 and became the first Plastic Surgeon in Pensacola. He was appointed to the Medical Staff at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and was a member of the Emergency Room Advisory Committee, the Executive Committee, the Surgical Intensive Nursing Unit Committee, the Baptist Hospital Medical Board, the Patient Care Committee, the Infection Control Committee, the Surgicare Committee, and was Secretary of the Medical Executive Committee. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which he considered his greatest accomplishment, and he belonged to many other professional organizations as well. Ben was preceded in death by his father, William Aubrey Gregory; his mother, Bertha C. Jolly Gregory; brother, William H. Gregory, Sr.; and sister, Elma Barnes Gregory. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary B. Pinckard Gregory; sons, Scott Gregory and Brian (Deborah) Gregory; daughter, Robin (Jim) Doane; grandchildren, Sean Gregory, Mariah Kloess, Ariel Gregory, and Ian, Jenna, and Lauren Doane; and a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Gregory. At Dr. Gregory's request there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, 713-621-0006, or a charity of your choice.
