Beatrice McAlister Bishop, 77, of 5301 Locust Hill Road, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Theron Baylis and Maebell Williams McAlister. Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker and attended Locust Hill Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband, William Clinton Bishop, of the home; a sister, Evelyn Nix, of Travelers Rest; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grady and Ema Lee Bishop of Greenville, Joseph Bishop of Travelers Rest, Camelle and Ford Batson of Jackson, Jeanette and C.L. Dotson of Marietta, Ga., Evelyn Bishop of Greenville, Mildred and Hoyle Jones of Greenville and Mary Willis of Columbia. She was predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Oneal Nix, Truett Willis and Grover Bishop. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning at The Howze Mortuary Chapel, with burial to follow at Grand View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary. The family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Locust Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 5534 Locust Hill Road, Travelers Rest, SC 29690. The Howze Mortuary, Funeral Directors, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
