DAVIS--Beatrice Greenapple, 87, of Floral Park, NY, died at home on May 7, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 7, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. Beloved daughter of the late Pauline and Jack Greenapple. She is survived by Melvin, her loving husband of 67 years; cherished daughters Deborah, Jamie Germaine (Greg Ross), Susan Pereira (Vanderlei); grandchildren Jenna(Carolyn), Paul (Michelle), great-grandsons Brodie and Keegan, brother Larry Greenapple, sister Florine Dorfmann and nieces and nephews. Bea was a graduate of Brooklyn College, received a Masters in Education with a specialty in reading from Hofstra University, and completed additional graduate studies in that field. Throughout her career Bea taught at many levels, from nursery to graduate school. She also chaired the reading department at Westbury Jr. High School in New York for several years. After her retirement, she pursued her lifelong love of words and literature by devoting her creative energy to writing poetry. She had two books of poetry published, and numerous poems have been included in various anthologies. Bea was an active member of Temple Sinai of Roslyn, serving on a number of committees. She was an outstanding cook and baker, and her family always looked forward to her holiday meals. Bea and Mel spent many happy summers at their cottage on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Family was paramount in Bea's life and her happiest times were having family gathered together for holidays and celebrations. Funeral services at Temple Sinai of Roslyn Heights, NY, Thursday, May 9th at 11:30am. Interment at New Montefiore Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Davis home.
