Beatrice Briere February 1, 1916 - July 24, 2008 ROGERS - Beatrice Briere, 92, of Williamsville Road died on Thursday at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was the wife of the late Clarence Briere, who died on Sept. 19, 1995. They were married on May 1, 1937 at St. Joseph Church in Dayville. Born in New Bedford, MA on February 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Dorilla (Varrier) Gosselin. She attended the local schools, prior to moving to Wauregan, where she completed her education. She worked in local textiles as a spinner, until her marriage. She then devoted her life to the raising and care of her family. When her children were grown, she returned to work as a cook and cafeteria manager at Killingly Central School for twenty-two years, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Briere was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers, Massachusetts Policeman's Association, the Tri-State Coin Club and the Royal Travelers. She was a former Grange member, and was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church in Rogers. She leaves three sons, Donald Briere and his wife Joyce of Danielson, Roland Briere and his wife Jo-ann of Thompson, and Maurice Briere, with whom Mrs. Briere made her home, of Rogers; a daughter-in-law Carol Briere of Dayville; a brother Gerald Gosselin of Woodstock; two sisters Lucille Desaulnier of Florida and Jeannette Warren of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two foster daughters Diane Rock and Sharron Wilson. She was predeceased by a son Ernest &quotPorky&quot Briere; and a brother Leo Gosselin. The family wishes to thank Dr. Botta, Day Kimball Hospital and the VNA nurses for the excellent care that they provided our mother, and the Williamsville Fire Engine Co. and the K-B Ambulance Corp. for their fine service. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at St. Joseph Church, Dayville at 10:00 a.m. Burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, Dayville. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Day Kimball Hospital, 320 Pomfret St., Putnam, CT 06260.
