ALBANY Barry James Smith, on Saturday morning, September 6, 2003 departed this life at Albany Medical Center Hospital, after a long illness. He was born on July 3, 1961 to James Smith and Mae Holmes (both deceased) in Chicago, Ill. where he lived during his early childhood. He moved to Queens, N.Y., where he went to elementary and high school and later joined the United States National Guard. He then moved to Albany, N.Y. and made his home there with Ellen Remillard, who preceded him in death. From their union a loving son, Jordan was born. Barry is survived by his son, Jordan; stepsons, Joey and Ricky Gardner; brother, Mitchell Marchand; two aunts, Christine Casselles and Gladys McKissic; four uncles, Dillard Holmes, Clarence Holmes, Stanley McKissic and Robert Casselles; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 9 at 11 a.m. at Garland Bros. Funeral Home, 75 Clinton Avenue, Albany, N.Y.
