CLARK, Barbara Watkins of Madeira Beach, died on Dec. 21, 2007, at home, surrounded by friends and family and under hospice care. Mrs. Clark was born on March 22, 1929, in Scranton, PA, the daughter of Torrington R. and Ruth D. Watkins. She moved to Madeira Beach from Watertown, CT, in 2000. A graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA, Mrs. Clark also held a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. While she retired in 1991, after having taught physical education in the Watertown Public Schools for 21 years, she continued to serve for 8 more years as a substitute teacher at Watertown High. Barbara Clark was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and its choir in St. Pete Beach. She was a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church, vestry and choir in Waterbury, CT. She was a life member of the Connecticut Education Association and the National Education Association. Mrs. Clark also enjoyed her time as a volunteer at the Gulf Beaches library in Madeira Beach. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Richard O. Clark Sr.; 2 sons, David A. Hartley, of Bristol CT; Peter W. Hartley, of North Stonington, CT; a daughter, Kristin H. Leithiser, of Old Town, ME; 3 step daughters, Karen M. Obar, of Watertown, CT, Kathie Trowbridge, of Avon, CT, and Lowell A. Dwyer, of Watertown, CT; a brother, Torrington D. Watkins, of Hightstown, NJ; 12 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a stepson, Richard O. Clark Jr. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Alban's Church, St. Pete Beach, Gulf Beaches Library, or Suncoast Hospice. A Memorial Service in celebration of Barbara Clark's life will take place at 11 am on Dec. 27, 2007, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, St. Pete Beach.
