Barbara Tracy Peterson, 81, passed away on Aug. 7, 2004. She was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Maurice and Lillie Pauline Dye. Mrs. Peterson was a lifelong resident of Decatur, Alabama, where she was active in the Newcomer’s Club and served as president. Mrs. Peterson was an avid gardener, bridge player and a dog lover. She loved to make all of the holidays, birthdays and special events festive with entertaining family. Her life was blessed with fulfilling her heart’s desire to be a stay-at-home mom and raise her children, work in the garden, be surrounded by her dogs and create a home her family cherished. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emmett Peterson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Polly Coleman and her husband Jerry Coleman of El Paso, Texas, and Marcy Callis and her husband Wayne of Nashville; her sons, Lance Peterson and his wife Lizette Kelly of Tallahassee, Fla., and Shawn Peterson of Panama City Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Mindy, Beau, Chris, Sarah and Tucker; and her great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Dustin, Evan and Jacob. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance. Interment followed at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
