MERIDEN - Barbara (Wollschlager) Smith, 90, wife of the late Charles Smith Jr., died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.She was born in Meriden on Sept. 9, 1922. Barbara worked at AT&T, Permanent Savings Bank, and retired as a secretary at Post College. She was an original and lifelong member of the Washington Park Drum Corps. Barbara loved to read, garden, travel and yell Bingo!Mrs. Smith is survived by three sons, Dale (Aerona) Smith, of Colgate, Wis., Charles (Susanne) Smith, of East Hartford and Robert (Susan) Smith; and one daughter, Kathleen (James) Zuber, of Meriden. She is further survived by eleven grandchildren, Dale Jr., Darrin, and Derek Smith, of Colgate, Wis., Charles Smith Jr., Amy Smith Wisniewski, Amanda, Allyson, and Angela Smith, Jason and Jaymee Zuber, and Danielle Green, all of Meriden; and by five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Donald Wollschlager ,of Middletown; and is predeceased by a brother, Raymond Wollschlager.Barbara's family would like to thank MidState Oncology Dept., Franciscan Hospice and the Meriden Center staffs for the wonderful care provided. A special thanks to friends Marie Greene and Steve Keene.The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 3 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 5 Sherman Pl., Meriden. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in the spring.
