BARBARA "QUEENIE" SMITH Barbara Ellis Smith, died October 6, 2007 at her residence. She was born in New York, NY, and lived in Vero Beach for 51 years coming from Wheeling, WVA. She graduated from Wheeling High School in 1953 and then attended West Liberty College, West Liberty, WVA. Later she received training in radiology from Good Samaritian Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL. She worked for Indian River Memorial Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement in 1998. She then worked for Vero Radiology part-time. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Gary P. Smith of Vero Beach, son, Ellis Smith and his wife, Teri of Vero Beach, daughters, Jenny Yingling of Palm City, FL and Melissa Becker, and her husband Jeff of Evans, GA, brother, Pete Ellis of Sea Girt, NJ and grandsons, Adam and Chad Yingling, Crisitian Fuentes, Alex and Eric Becker, granddaughters, Kelsey Yingling, Ashley and Sarah Smith. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 2206 16th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960 or VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960, or the charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Smith. A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach, FL with the Rev. Michael Carter, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL.
