SMITH, Barbara Mabry, 83 a Lake Park, Ga., resident for over 40 years, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at her Valdosta residence. Born on November 17, 1920 in Tampa, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Dean Mabry and Milton Harvey Mabry, Jr. A native of Tampa, Barbara was a graduate of Plant High School and attended Stetson University and Florida State University, and graduated from the University of Tampa. While in Tampa, she was an active member of First Baptist Church, Kappa Delta sorority, and the Junior League of Tampa. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Valdosta for over 40 years where she taught the Young Adults Sunday School class for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Drew Smith Sr.; and her sisters, Dale Mabry Boring, Alice Dean Cochran, and Jane Mabry. She is survived by her children, Dale Smith Loyd and husband George of Blackshear, Ga., William Drew Smith Jr. and wife Kaye of Valdosta, Ga., Steven Dennis Smith and wife Leigh of Valdosta, Ga.; grandchildren, Mabry, Gini, Matthew, William and Lindsey Smith, all of Valdosta, and Steven Smith of Quitman, Ga. In Tampa, she is survived by nieces and their husbands, Nancy Cochran Berry and Ted, and Patti Boring Sellas and Bob; and a nephew and his wife, Milton Boring and Doris. She is lovingly remembered by a large extended family and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2004 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Phil West officiating. A private family committal will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m., until service time.
