Barbara Ann Smith, age 75, of Taylorville, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 9:02 a.m. at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 16, 1935 in West Frankfort, IL to Raymond and Zelma (Schrum) Dotson. She married R. Clifford Smith on October 4, 1953 in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2007. She was employed at Liberty Mutual, Rinker’s Trucking and Circle Steel before retiring. She was a graduate of the Taylorville High School Class of 1953. Barbara was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church. Barbara enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, reading, and playing cards. She also enjoyed watching Illinois Basketball, Cubs Baseball and tennis. She leaves her beloved cat Fred. Barbara is survived by her daughters: Kim & husband (Bill) Cox of Winter Haven, FL, and Kathy & husband (Mike) Schuyler of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Kevin & wife (Michelle) Hughes, Kasey Hughes & fiancé (Elena Penaloza) all of Taylorville, IL, Cody Cox of Winter Haven, FL and Whitney & husband (Bob) McDaniel of Ava, IL, Philip Schuyler & companion (Shanna Bress) of Alton, IL; great-grandchildren: Alexis Hughes and Kassidy Schuyler; brother: Lee & wife (Mary Ann) Dotson of Vicksburg, MS; sister: Sue & husband (Lynn) Crites of Taylorville, IL; sisters-in-law: Pearl & husband (Joy) Cruthis of Sorento, IL and Carolyn Marak of Panama, IL; brothers-in-law: Tom & wife (Minnie) and Joe Smith both of Lewisville, IL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers-in-law: Jan Phillips, Dorice Grauer and John Marak. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Jeff Mayfield officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL. Memorials can be made to Memorial Home Services, Springfield, IL 62702.
