BRIDGEWATER - Barbara M. Fleming, 81, died Oct. 10, 2010, at Mertens House in Woodstock. She was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Bridgewater, the daughter of George W. and Ruth (Butler) Maynard. She was a 1947 graduate of Woodstock High School and studied nursing at the University of Vermont and Gifford Memorial School of Nursing. She worked at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital for over 20 years, at Myer Health Care Services in Santa Clara, Calif., at the Village Tavern in Woodstock and Robert Lewis Book Binding in West Woodstock. She was a member of the Vermont Senior Companion Program, Lupus Foundation, Smithsonian, SEVCA, COVE and Bridgewater Congregational Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and puzzles. Survivors include a son, Timothy Fleming of Glastonbury, Conn.; a brother, Richard Maynard of East Amherst, N.Y.; a granddaughter, nephew and niece. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Fleming. The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock where friends may call from noon prior to the service, as well as from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14.
