MORRISVILLE, Pa. - Mrs. Barbara Jean "Van" Walker Whitaker, 60, entered into eternal rest at her home in Morrisville, Pa., on Friday, August 29th. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6th, at 2 p.m. at the Spring Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. James Jenkins, Pastor Dorothy Nelson, Elder Bessie Nelson and Rev. Minnie Davis, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Whitaker, a native of Jefferson County, was the daughter of the late Lensey and Clemmie Brown Walker. She was a member of the Spring Bethel A.M.E. Church, and a graduate of the Louisville High School Class of 1967. She was employed by Johnson & Johnson and Americorp until her health failed. Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her son, Michael Whitaker, in May 2007; and brothers, Lensey Walker and Willie Walker, Sr. Memories will be cherished forever by her husband of 41 years, James Whitaker, IV; son, James Whitaker, V; two daughters, Stephanie (Dwayne) Taylor and Vanessa Whitaker, all of Morrisville, Pa.; step-daughter, Sheri Kelly, New York; two sisters, Mattie Hodges, Wrens, and Agnes Jones, St. Petersburgh, Fla.; two brothers, St. John Walker and Scipp Walker, Wrens; mother-in-law, Annie Willie Whitaker, Trenton, N.J.; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunts, Mattie Turner, Wrens, and Rachel Banks, Trenton, N.J.; sisters-in-law, Elder Bessie Nelson, Pastor Dorothy (Albert) Nelson, Wrens, Mary Ann Walker and Linda Whitaker, Trenton, N.J.; one brother-in-law, Willie Robert Whitaker, Trenton, N.J.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will forever cherish her memory.
