->Smith, Barbara JeanBarbara Jean Smith, 54, went to be with the Lord on Monday July 28, 2014 after a short illness. Born August 18, 1959 in Broome County to Beverly Ferraco (Mike) and Gene Rosenkrans. On October 1, 1977, she married the love of her life Gregory S. Smith. She lived in Castle Creek and worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at Broome OBGYN. She will be missed greatly by her coworkers as she always brought sunshine to the office. Barb will be especially remembered for her love of family and friends, her amazing smile, her passion for life and her ability to light a room with her presence. She had a kind heart and always saw the positive in every situation. She made the best of everyday and made sure to tell the people in her life how much she loved them. She enjoyed spending time on Lake Ontario at the Willows on the Lake with her husband, family and friends. One of her greatest joys was her kids and grandkids. Her face lit up every time she saw them or even spoke of them. She was also a Bunco Babe and played Bunco once a month where she had everyone laughing until they couldn't stop. Her Bunco Babes are going to miss her and her fun filled hilarious stories that could only be heard and spoken of at Bunco. She left us beautiful memories that we will treasure always. Survivors include sisters and brothers, Patty D'Achille (Bob), Bob Burlingame (Wanita), Ken Burlingame (Terri), Greg Burlingame (Dee), Valerie Gana (sister and best friend), Lee Rosenkrans (Diane), Gene Rosenkrans, Brian Burlingame, Blaine Burlingame, Calvin Burlingame and Pamela Burlingame; sons, Gregory Smith (Jennifer) and Austin Smith (Kathryne); her beloved grandchildren, Abigail Smith, Owen Smith, Evan Smith, Tanner Smith, and Brady Smith. Growing up, she was like a second mother to her special niece Tyanna Moseman (Dave) her nephew Jedd Smith (Patti) and other niece Jennifer Backus (Kevin). Barbara married into a family that she loved like her own. She leaves behind her mother and father-in-law, Lowell and JoAnn Smith; brother and sisters-in-law, Jeff Smith (Lori), Denise Hazlett (Doug), Cris Smith (Jane), Julie Schanbacher (Dana). Barb's BFF was Mary Wilkins. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family would like to thank her doctors Dr. Daniel Driscoll, Susan Anderson, the staff at UHS in Lisle, the sixth floor and second floor nurses at Binghamton General with Dr. Wiesner, Dr. Brathwaite at UHS, Dr. Duff and Dr. Chevly and a special thanks to Denise Mecca for her guidance in Barb's journey. Private services were held on Friday August 1st to celebrate Barbara's life and how much she meant to everyone who loved her!
